Douara Cave

On the 19th September, we left early in the morning for the Douara Cave located about 40km north east from Palmyra ruins. The Doura Cave is an archeological site of Neaderthal age where the Japan-Syria expedition team was excavating for 5 years since 1981. In this cave are found many fossils of animal borns and stone tools, and some remains of stone tools factories of Neanderthal age are also found in a huge basin behind the cave. The excavation team was expecting to discover some human borns in this area, but they could not make it.
